On the weekend of 19 - 21 May, a selection of highlights and prizewinners from KINO DER KUNST will be screened at Neues Museum in Nürnberg / Nuremberg. Among the selected films are Prospect by Mattias Härenstam with a screening on Saturday 20 May. More information at www.nmn.de

 

Kino der Kunst, Munich

Härenstams shortfilm Prospect will premiere internationally with screenings at KINO DER KUNST in Munich from April 19 to April 23, 2017.
   KINO DER KUNST, a worldwide unique combination of film festival and art exhibition, will hold its third edition this year. Movie theatres and museums all over Munich will present an International Competition as well as special focuses, artists talks, symposions and multi-channel installations. KINO DER KUNST investigates the relationship between visual art and cinema, this year's programmatic focus being the current approach of artists to fiction and narration while treating contemporary reality.  
   Prospect will be screened at HFF Audiomaxx on April, 20 at 17:00 and at City Kino on April, 23 at 14.30. More info at KINO DER KUNST

 

Existus, F 15, Moss

A group show on the theme "death, mourning and melancholy" opens at Galleri F 15 outside Moss, Norway on Sat April, 8 2017 at 2 pm. The show, titled "Existus", is curated by Claudia Reinhardt-Teljer and Dag Aak Sveinar and is a reworked version of the show at Galerie am Körnerpark, Berlin in 2015. It presents work by Tor Børresen (NO), Peter Brandt (DK), Thomas Henriksson (SE/DE), Jannicke Låker (NO/DE), Sverre Malling (NO), Sands Murray-Wassink (US/NL), Claudia Reinhardt-Teljer (DE), Ursula Reuter Christiansen (DE/DK), Jo Spence (GB), Per Teljer (SE/DE) and Mattias Härenstam. Mattias Härenstam will be showing the shortfilm Reconstruction. The  show stays open until May, 31. More info at the F 15 webpage.

 

Hubei Museum of Art

A group show of Norwegian printmakers opened at Hubei Museum of Art, China on Fri March, 24. The show, titled Forest in Norway, presents work by 23 Norwegian artists, among them Mattias Härenstam. Härenstam shows the prints Meadow, Night, Summerlandscape with radio (22 July 2011) and Four riders across the road. The show will be open until April, 23.

 

Shortfilm premiere at Kunstnernes Hus, Oslo

Mattias Härenstams shortfilm Prospect (Prospekt) will premiere with a screening at the new cinema at Kunstnernes Hus, Oslo on Wed 15, March at 7 pm. The screening will be followed by a podium discussion between the director and film- and artcritic Oda Bhar.

 

Stavanger Art Museum

Forgreininger (Branching) is the title of an exhibition at Stavanger Art Museum, juxtaposing the work of Norwegian painter Lars Hertervig (1830 - 1902) and sculptures of Mattias Härenstam. The exhibition includes iconic work by Hertervig such as "Gamle Furutær" ("Old pinetrees"), 1865 and many others. Mattias Härenstam will show Desire, Patriarch, Weaknesses, Secrets, Lies I (Leak), Weaknesses, Secrets, Lies II (Hidden), My Mistake, I know that you are there, The Diary of the Unknown Consumer, Fear of Failure and a new piece, concieved for the occasion The forgotten one.
  The exhibition opens on Friday Nov 25 at 6 pm and stays open until Feb 19 2017. More at Stavanger Art Museum.

 

Galleri Konstepidemin, Gothenburg

On Sat Oct 29 2016 Galleri Konstepidemin in Gothenburg, Sweden opened a solo show with Mattias Härenstam. The show titled "Senare den kvällen" (Later that night) features the hanging wooden sculptures: Sketch for a reanimation I, Sketch for a reanimation II, Sketch for a reanimation III, Sketch for a reanimation IV, Sketch for a reanimation V  and all of the woodcut prints.

Lorck Schive Art Prize

Mattias Härenstam has been announced as one of the four artists nominated for next years Lorck Schive Art Prize. The other nominees are Knut Henrik Henriksen, Vibeke Tandberg and Lars Laumann. Each nominated artist are given a sum of 150.000 NOK to produce new work for the prize show next October at Trondheim Art Museum. An international jury will then select a winner for the prize. The prize is awarded with the sum of 500.000 NOK.
  The Lorck Schive Art Prize is the largest and most prestigious art prize in Norway, awarded every two years. More at Lorck Schive.

 

Pilgrim

The bronze sculpture Pilgrim by Mattias Härenstam has been mounted at its permanent place on a walkway through the new residential area of Tiller Øst on the outskirts of Trondheim. The work was commissioned by Trondheim Kommune.

 

The Vigeland Museum, Oslo

On Thursday Feb 18th, Mattias Härenstams' first museum solo show opens at the Vigeland Museum in Oslo. The show, titled Weaknesses, secrets, lies stays open until May 15th and will be the broadest presentation of Härenstams' work so far. Five brand new sculptures in wood and, for the first time, also in stone will be presented at the show.
