In conjuction with this years performing arts festival MADE at Norrlandsoperan in Umeå, Sweden there will be a video screening. The screening, curated by Helena Wikström, will be held at Vita Kuben on Wed May 7th and Thu May 8th. Apart from Mattias Härenstams Closed Circuit (In the middle of Sweden), the following works will be on display: A forest within a Forest by Stefan Larsson and Murmurs of earth by Lars Arrhenius and Johannes Muntzig.

Mattias Härenstam will take part in this years edition of Oslo Open, taking place Saturday 26 and Sunday April 27 from 12.00 to 18.00. In addition there will be a contionous screening of film- and video art at Cinemateket, Filmens Hus. One of the works on view will be Mattias short film Reconstruction.

Closed Circuit (In the middle of Sweden) by Mattias Härenstam will be screened at the 1st International Festival of Artistic Film Lublin, Poland 27 March - 02 April 2014. It will be part of a screening program by Wilfried Agricola de Cologne titled CologneOFF XP - Impact of Imagination, The Best of Art & Moving Images. More at Cologne OFF.
Reconstruction has been selected as one of twenty-four short films from all over Europe for the competition program of XVI FEC European Short Film Festival in Reus, Spain. The festival takes place between March 12th and March 16th. Reconstruction will be screened on Friday March 14th at 19.00 as part of "European Competition III" at Bartrina Theater, Plaça del Teatre 1.

Reconstruction by Mattias Härenstam has been selected for Minimalen Short Film Festival in Trondheim, Norway March 12th - March 16th. It compets in the category of Norwegian Shorts and will be screened at Nova Kinosenter Wed March 12th at 16.00 as part of the program "Norsk 1".

The third solo show by Mattias Härenstam this year opens at Østfold Kunstnersenter (Østfold Art Centre) in Fredrikstad, Norway on Sat March 8th 15.00. The show features different versions of the wood sculptures in the series Sketches for a re-animation and two woodcut prints (Meadow and Later that night). It stays open until April 27th.

On January 25th Mattias Härenstam opens a solo show titled It was like nothing had changed, yet it could never be the same again at Art-Claims-Impulse Contemporary Fine Arts in Berlin. The show features several recent works, including the large-scale wood sculpture In spite of it all, the short film Reconstruction, video Closed Circuit (In the middle of Sweden) and a series of woodcuts (including some brand new prints). The show stays up until March 22nd.

Galleri Norske Grafikere in Oslo opens a new solo show by Mattias Härenstam on Thursday Feb 6th at 18.00. The show is titled "Rekonstruksjon" ("Reconstruction") and features the short film with the same title, Reconstruction, a reworked version of the installation Fear of failure and the entire series of woodcuts.

The weekly arts show Nasjonalgalleriet on Norwegian National Broadcaster NRK, has made a feature on Mattias Härenstam. The feature and interview will be broadcast on Mon Nov 4th at 20.55 on NRK 2 and rerun on Tue Nov 5th on NRK 1 at 23.00. It can also be seen online with English subtitles here.
Closed Circuit (In the middle of Sweden) will be screened as part of the event Dithyrambus in Scicli, Sicily Nov 1 -3 2013. The event, organized by SEM, will show a selection of video art projected on buildings in the historical centre of the sicilian town. Härenstam's video will be screened on the wall of Palazzo Spadaro in Via F. Mormino Penna.
